Abstract
Myoepithelial carcinoma of the parotid gland constitutes less than 5% of all salivary gland tumors [1]. In the pediatric population, salivary gland neoplasms are uncommon with an incidence of approximately 3–4 per 10,000 cases accounting for less than 5% of salivary gland tumors and under 2% of all head and neck neoplasms [2]. The diagnosis of these tumors remains challenging due to their rarity and wide histological variability which significantly impact clinical prognosis. Since 1991, the World Health Organization (WHO) has classified myoepithelial carcinoma as a distinct subtype of salivary gland tumors [3]. Here, we report a rare case of myoepithelial carcinoma in the parotid gland of an 8-year-old girl, notable for its extensive invasion of the facial nerve.
