Energy and Environmental Research (ISSN: 3139-2032) welcomes original, high-quality scholarly contributions addressing energy, environmental science, sustainability, natural resources, climate, pollution, environmental management, energy systems, and related interdisciplinary areas within the journal's scope.

The journal considers research articles, review articles, brief reports, technical or methodological papers, case studies, commentaries, perspectives, and other scholarly contributions appropriate to its aims and scope.

Free Format Submission

The journal uses a free-format approach for initial submissions. Authors are not required to use a journal-specific template, typeface, reference format, or LaTeX style at the initial submission stage.

Manuscripts should nevertheless be clearly organized and sufficiently detailed to permit proper editorial assessment and peer review.

Recommended Manuscript Structure

Depending on the article type, manuscripts should normally contain the following elements where applicable:

  • Title
  • Author Information and Affiliations
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction or Background
  • Materials and Methods / Methodology
  • Results / Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Funding Information
  • Author Contributions
  • Conflict of Interest Statement
  • Data Availability Statement, where applicable
  • Ethical Statement, where applicable
  • Acknowledgements, where applicable
  • References

The structure may be adapted according to the research methodology and article type.

Research Scope and Scientific Quality

Manuscripts should make a clear scholarly contribution to energy, environmental science, sustainability, or a closely related field within the journal's scope.

Research should be based on appropriate methodology, reliable evidence, accurate analysis, and conclusions supported by the results.

Studies involving energy systems, environmental monitoring, climate, pollution, natural resources, sustainability, modelling, engineering applications, policy, economics, or interdisciplinary approaches should clearly describe the methods and assumptions relevant to the work.

Research Methods and Reproducibility

Authors should provide sufficient methodological information to allow qualified readers and reviewers to understand how the research was conducted and, where reasonably possible, reproduce or evaluate the work.

Where models, simulations, software, analytical procedures, datasets, field measurements, laboratory methods, or specialized instruments are used, sufficient information should be provided for appropriate evaluation.

Data Availability

A Data Availability Statement should be provided where applicable.

Authors should indicate whether supporting data are publicly available, deposited in a recognized repository, available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request, or unavailable because of legitimate ethical, legal, privacy, proprietary, or confidentiality restrictions.

Authors should not disclose confidential, restricted, or personally identifiable information without appropriate authorization.

Software, Code, Models, and Computational Materials

Where software, source code, computational models, algorithms, or other digital tools materially support the research, authors are encouraged to provide sufficient information for evaluation and reproducibility.

Where appropriate, authors should identify software versions, important computational parameters, modelling assumptions, and relevant licenses or sources.

Environmental and Field Research

Research involving field sampling, environmental monitoring, ecological studies, natural resources, protected areas, or other regulated locations should comply with applicable institutional, national, and international requirements.

Where permits, permissions, or regulatory approvals are required, authors should obtain them before conducting the research and provide relevant information in the manuscript where appropriate.

Research Involving Human Participants or Personal Data

Where research involves human participants, surveys, interviews, personal information, identifiable data, or other human-subject research, authors must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Where ethical approval or informed consent is required, the manuscript should provide the relevant information.

Research Involving Animals

Research involving animals must comply with applicable institutional, national, and international animal-welfare requirements.

Where ethical approval is required, authors should provide appropriate approval information and describe relevant measures taken to minimize pain, distress, or unnecessary use of animals.

Research Involving Hazardous Materials or Environmental Risks

Research involving hazardous chemicals, pollutants, biological materials, radiation, environmental hazards, or other potentially harmful materials should comply with applicable safety, regulatory, and institutional requirements.

Authors should provide appropriate information concerning relevant safety procedures where necessary for evaluation of the work.

Reporting Guidelines

Authors should follow recognized reporting or methodological standards appropriate to the study design and discipline.

For interdisciplinary or health-related research, relevant reporting standards may include CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, STARD, ARRIVE, or other applicable guidance. Authors may consult the EQUATOR Network where appropriate.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship should reflect meaningful contributions to the conception, design, conduct, analysis, interpretation, or other substantive aspects of the work.

All listed authors should approve the final manuscript and accept responsibility for their appropriate contributions.

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not qualify for authorship may be acknowledged with their permission.

Changes to Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after submission must be submitted to the editorial office with an appropriate explanation and confirmation from the affected authors.

ORCID

An ORCID iD for the corresponding author is required at submission. ORCID iDs for co-authors are strongly encouraged.

Originality and Exclusive Submission

Manuscripts must be original and must not be under simultaneous consideration by another journal.

Authors should disclose relevant prior publication, preprint, conference presentation, dataset, report, thesis, or other dissemination that could affect the originality or interpretation of the submitted work.

Funding

All sources of financial support for the research or preparation of the manuscript must be disclosed.

Where no external funding was received, authors may provide an appropriate statement such as: "No external funding was received for this study."

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose financial, professional, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or publication of the manuscript.

Where no relevant conflict exists, authors should provide an appropriate declaration.

Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI

Authors must disclose substantial use of generative AI or other AI-assisted technologies in preparing the manuscript.

AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, references, interpretation, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.

AI must not be used to fabricate or falsify data, results, references, images, or other scholarly information.

References

References should be accurate, complete, and consistently formatted. A numbered citation system is preferred for initial submission, but a journal-specific reference style is not mandatory at the initial submission stage.

Authors should verify author names, article titles, journal names, publication year, volume, issue, pages, DOI, and other persistent identifiers where applicable.

Peer Review

The journal follows a single-anonymous (single-blind) peer-review process. Reviewers remain anonymous to authors, while reviewers are aware of the authors' identities.

Manuscripts undergo initial editorial assessment before being considered for external peer review. Manuscripts considered suitable may be assigned to qualified reviewers with relevant subject expertise.

Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or a formally designated editor acting under delegated authority.

Reviewer Suggestions

Authors may suggest three to five potential reviewers. Suggested reviewers should have appropriate expertise and must not have conflicts of interest that could compromise their independence.

The journal is not required to select reviewers suggested by the authors.

Plagiarism and Research Integrity

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, inappropriate image manipulation, manipulated citations, authorship misconduct, peer-review manipulation, or other forms of research and publication misconduct.

Manuscripts may be screened using similarity-detection or other integrity-screening tools. A similarity report is an editorial assessment tool and does not by itself establish plagiarism.

Copyright and Open Access

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license unless otherwise stated.

Authors retain copyright in their work and grant the journal the rights necessary to publish and distribute the article under the applicable open-access license.

Proofs

A final proof may be provided to the corresponding author before publication. Authors should carefully check author names, affiliations, figures, tables, references, metadata, and other publication information.

Production and Technical Support

After acceptance, authors who require assistance with final manuscript preparation, production-related technical checks, or file preparation may request optional Production and Technical Support for USD 50 per manuscript.

This service is entirely optional and is not a condition of acceptance or publication. Authors who prepare their own final files do not need to pay this charge.

Payment for Production and Technical Support does not influence peer review, editorial assessment, acceptance, or publication decisions.

Publication Ethics

Authors are expected to comply with the journal's Ethical Principles and Publication Policy and applicable principles of responsible research and scholarly publishing.
